Closer or further?
These are the two ways you can travel when trying to reach a goal. There is no in between.
Every single point in time has at least 2 different paths you can take from that moment, and so on and so on.
For example, let’s look at some options for my mornings:
Every action has a reaction.
Starting with number one, I could easily turn off my alarm and go back to bed. However, this would likely not make my awesome, well paying clients happy if I don’t show up for their morning session.
You see how it can go from there…
When it comes to any kind of health goal – this idea still rings true.
Here is a possible daily scenario:
Does this mean you have to eat reasonably and on plan 24/7 to reach your goals? No.
But the more and more you trend away from your goals, you simply cannot expect to reach them.
This is where one must take self accountability seriously. You must realize that you truly have 100% control over every single decision in your life when it comes to reaching or getting away from your goals. This is no one else’s problem or task but your own.
Does this mean you will always get to do exactly what you want? Probably not.
Some level of discipline and sacrifice is needed – true statement.
Again, does this mean your life needs to be miserable, anti-social, and boring? No.
But until you re-prioritize some things, and change your processes in which you think, act, and react to things – they won’t just magically change for you.
I had a good discussion with one of my groups last week while we were stretching.
We talked about the idea of not ignoring the facts when it comes to being unhealthy or obese at the cost of just feeling good about yourself.
I am 100% in support of loving yourself. I believe everyone should love themselves first and foremost, and be confident in who they are.
With that being said, one cannot deny the FACTS that are out there when it comes to the dangers of being out of shape, weak, or severely overweight.
If you fall into one of those categories, you essentially have 3 options.
- Ignore the facts, and continue on with your life.
- Accept the facts, but do nothing.
- Accept the facts, and do something about it.
I can’t tell you what the best option is – you need to figure that out for yourself. Maybe you aren’t ready to accept the facts, or your current state isn’t having a negative effect on your life. That is fine, and it is your choice.
Maybe you are starting to see the negative effects that your lifestyle is having on you, and people around you – but you aren’t ready to do something – or even worse want to sit around and blame everyone and everything else. That’s fine, and it’s your choice.
But maybe you see the negative, and are ready to do something about it, and know that you can because you are a strong person and you are sick of living like this…that’s great, and your choice – so lets get going!
Coming back to where we started…
Every decision you make in the day will lead you in one of two directions – which choice you make is your own, under your own control, and the outcomes of that decision fall on you – good or bad.
Take ownership of your life, your decisions, and your path – and you will be ahead of a lot of people in this world.
